
In honor of National Home Care & Hospice Month, HHAeXchange put out a call for agencies to nominate a caregiver who goes above and beyond in their role.
We received many fantastic nominations, but among the sea of exceptional caregivers, ten stood out from the crowd. They have each been awarded an iPad and engraved award as a token of our appreciation for their outstanding commitment to quality homecare.

NOMINATED BY: URESTI SENIOR ASSISTANCE SAN ANTONIO
Auroura Conteras Hernandez
Auroura has been with Uresti Senior Assistance for more than three years. Her agency has seen her grow in so many aspects. She cares for her clients with all her heart and spends so much time providing the best care for them. One time, someone from her agency happened to see her with a client after work hours on a Sunday. It was raining that day, and they saw Ms. Conteras bringing food for her client. It was 8 pm and she came in to work the next Monday at 6 am. That was just one example of her drive and her admiration for her job. Her agency has placed her with multiple clients, and they always receive positive reviews on her performance.

Pharibee Hollenbach
Pharibee has been with her agency for close to three years and has picked up shifts whenever they have asked her. She has gone above and beyond for her clients more times than they can count, whether it's picking up groceries in 2 ft of snow or driving her clients to doctors' appointments and waiting there even though her hours have long been over. Her agency says she is an example of what a caregiver should be. If only they had a copy machine, they would love to make hundreds of her!

Elaina Patterson
Elaina often works back-to-back shifts, demonstrating tireless commitment to patient care. Elaina promotes patient independence, helping maintain their dignity and self-reliance. Her professionalism is evident in her strict adherence to Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) compliance, ensuring accurate records and high care standards.
Most impressively, Elaina once continued caring for a patient for 30 days when insurance authorizations were paused. This extraordinary act shows her deep commitment to patients' well-being, prioritizing their needs over bureaucratic hurdles.
Elaina's selfless actions, strong work ethic, and genuine care set her apart. Her agency said she consistently goes above and beyond, improving lives and embodying the true spirit of caregiving. Her dedication enhances patient care and sets a high standard for the caregiving profession.

Sennovia Smith-Myers
Sennovia was nominated because she is an exceptional caregiver who consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. According to her agency, her presence is truly uplifting—she lights up the house with her positive energy and warm demeanor as soon as she arrives.
Sennovia is not only pleasant and kind to the entire family, but she also creates a calm, supportive environment for her patients. She is incredibly flexible, always adapting to the unique needs of each patient, and shows an immense amount of patience in even the most challenging situations. Her love for her job is evident in the care and compassion she brings to her work every single day, making her a true asset to the families she serves.

Evrydiki Karypidou
Evrydiki Karypidou has been an Americare home health aide since 2011 and in the past 13 years has consistently provided exemplary care for every patient assigned to her. Evrydiki excels in providing care for some of her agency’s most vulnerable and fragile patients. Since beginning work with Americare, every patient and family that Evrydiki has worked with has praised her dedication, empathy, and commitment. Evrydiki’s last patient passed away at home at the age of 101, and she was with her for seven years. This patient was bedbound, requiring total care, and Evrydiki made sure this patient remained healthy with a good quality of life. The patient’s daughter shared that Evrydiki was the reason her mother was able to have her dream of aging and dying at home. During every day of the Covid pandemic, Hurricane Sandy, multiple disasters, Evrydiki made sure her patient always had the care she required.

Trisha Kay Tompkins
Trish provides all her clients with the most excellent care, compassion, tenderness, and kindness which makes them never want to have a different caregiver.
Besides having her own caseload, Trish is a Special Attendant which means she will cover when another attendant is not able to make a shift or if her agency needs to start a new client and there is no permanent provider yet. But once Trish goes to see a client, she does such an excellent job that the client only wants her to provide the services. All clients that Trish provides care to feel special and safe with her. Trish has actually been instrumental in keeping multiple clients from transferring out of their agency by showing them that their agency cares for them. Trish shows great pride in her work ethic, and it shows in the care she provides to all her clients, whether they are her permanent clients or temporary clients.

Elisa Apolinario
Elisa goes beyond what any caregiver will do. She is caring, loving, very professional, always in uniform, and always on time. Elisa makes appointments, goes to doctors' appointments with her clients, stays late, and helps her patients with any other issues they have, whether that's filling out applications for Medicaid, or for housing. She is the true name of a caregiver; she works out of love.

Sandra Devonshire
Sandy is such an amazing care provider. She works so hard, always, and her love of her members has no bounds. She is patient and supportive, and gives her all to everything she does. Sandy has worked in this field for decades, and her love for caring for these members only grows. The members absolutely love her. Her dedication to giving them the best possible care makes her agency proud and honored to have her on their staff.

Quanisha Williams
Since joining her agency in June 2022, Quanisha has exemplified caregiving excellence, working 40 hours weekly without fail. What sets her apart is her dedication, especially during Hurricane Helene.
Nine months pregnant, Quanisha was scheduled to care for Heather, a client with a traumatic brain injury. Despite life-threatening storm conditions, road closures, and being out of gas due to power outages, she persisted. Her agency assisted her with fuel, and she continued to Heather’s home with a smile, ready to serve.
Quanisha’s actions, professionalism, and positive attitude are inspiring. She connects with clients and caregivers, bringing joy and upholding her agency's core values of dignity and exceptional care. Her selflessness during the hurricane was heroic, truly embodying the mission of Touching Hearts at Home.

Jennifer Miller
Jennifer was nominated because of her love and compassion for people. She goes above and beyond for every one of her clients. She does more than what is asked of her and loves every second of it. She picks up extra shifts, moves around her personal life to accommodate her clients if need be, is always positive and upbeat, and is always making her clients smile. Her agency gets nothing but positive feedback from her clients and their office staff. She is such an amazing person and what caregivers should strive to be.
These ten extraordinary caregivers remind us what it truly means to care from the heart. Their tireless efforts have not only enriched the lives of their clients but are also the foundation of our industry. They are the backbone of quality homecare, ensuring dignity and support for those who need it most.
