    In honor of National Homecare & Hospice Month, HHAeXchange put out a call for agencies to nominate a caregiver who goes above and beyond in their role.

    We received over 430 heartfelt nominations, but among the sea of exceptional caregivers, ten stood out from the crowd. They have each been awarded an iPad and engraved award as a token of our appreciation for their outstanding commitment to quality homecare.

    Christine Baughman

    Christine's compassion radiates far beyond the bedside, touching lives in ways that are both profound and deeply personal. She consistently goes above and beyond—not only for her patients, but for anyone in need. Outside of work, she’s transformed her farm into a therapeutic haven for individuals with disabilities, offering healing and connection in a truly unique way. Most recently, when one of her patients was placed in a respite facility that couldn’t meet his care needs, Christine stepped in—visiting every few days on her own time to assist with his ADLs. Her actions weren’t required; they were driven by love and integrity. Christine’s commitment uplifts our entire team and sets a powerful example of what caregiving should be. We are beyond grateful to have her, and we hope to grow a team filled with champions just like her.

    Brenda Feliciano

    Ms. Brenda is a responsible, dedicated, and respectful professional who approaches her work with kindness and empathy. Always striving to understand her patients' needs, she consistently puts herself in their shoes to ensure their comfort and satisfaction. Her punctuality and commitment to excellence do not go unnoticed.

    Each week, we receive heartfelt compliments from her patients, who express deep appreciation for her compassionate care. She is passionate about her noble profession and approaches it with humility and grace.

    Her ability to resolve issues related to patient dissatisfaction speaks volumes about her problem-solving skills and her genuine concern for others. She truly is a special individual.

    Even in the face of personal loss, after the passing of her mother, Ms. Brenda chose not to miss a single week of caring for her patient, finding solace and purpose in serving them. Her dedication is both inspiring and deeply moving.

    Since joining our agency in 2003, Jackie has exemplified what it means to be a dedicated and compassionate home health aide. Her deep commitment to caregiving is evident in the way she forms meaningful connections with patients and their families, always treating them with the utmost respect, empathy, and kindness. Whether she’s staying late to provide extra support, anticipating the unspoken needs of those in her care, or simply offering a comforting presence, her actions reflect a genuine passion for helping others.

    What inspires us most is her quiet strength and consistency. In a field that can be both emotionally and physically demanding, she remains a steady and uplifting force. Her dedication doesn’t just improve the lives of her patients—it sets a standard for all of us. She reminds us daily of the profound impact that compassionate care can have. Jackie is not only a valued member of our team but also a true example of what it means to be a Caregiving Champion.

    Trinity Laskoski is a true caregiving champion because she leads with compassion, professionalism, and dedication every day. She has a gift for making people feel seen and valued, meeting each individual with patience and kindness. In the community, Trinity often advocates for those she supports, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. She also helps facilitate difficult conversations between clients, turning them into meaningful opportunities to build communication skills and strengthen friendships. Her professionalism shows in her reliability and the respect she gives to everyone she works with, while her dedication shines through in the way she celebrates small victories and goes above and beyond to spark joy. For Trinity, caregiving is more than a job—it’s her calling, and her heart and advocacy make her a true champion for the people she serves.

    Vickie Davis Lovelady

    Vickie Davis Lovelady exemplifies the true spirit of caregiving through her compassion, dedication, and selflessness. She goes above and beyond every day, offering both physical and emotional support with grace and patience. Her ability to make others feel seen, heard, and loved transforms lives. Vickie steps in seamlessly when others call out, ensuring continuity of care. She rearranged her schedule to cover a colleague’s emergency and quickly adapted to a new patient’s care plan overnight. She clocks in and out reliably and submits paperwork promptly. Vickie also trains and guides other caregivers, sharing her knowledge to strengthen the team. She has been with the Lucedale branch since it opened, demonstrating loyalty and consistency. For these reasons and more, we proudly nominate Vickie for the Caregiver Award—her kindness isn’t just a quality, it’s a calling.

    Michael Fox

    Michael has worked with the individuals he serves for over 20 years. He is always there for them for whatever needs they may have. He takes them to work, assists them with budgeting, shopping, housekeeping, doctor's appointments etc. They know that he is always there when they need him. If you ask them they will tell you that they consider him family and he considers them his family also. He has spent MANY hours talking with Medicaid, Social Security, and the VA to ensure that they get the benefits they qualify for. His dedication is beyond reproach. He spends every day ensuring that their quality of life is amazing!

    Echoe not only cares for the clients—she creates a meaningful experience for them. In so many cases where people feel weak and hopeless, Echoe gives them confidence and strength that helps each person thrive. One client told me that Echoe helped her find herself again. These are the types of comments that are frequent and consistent when it comes to Echoe.

    Erica Tillman

    Erica exemplifies what it means to be a true caregiver. She has never missed a day of work or clocked in late, always going above and beyond for her clients. Her clinical insight and quick action in reporting changes in condition have prevented multiple hospitalizations. Recently, Erica suffered a house fire—but even then, she showed up without hesitation. Her words: “It’s not my client’s fault he needs me. I just push my issues aside and focus on his care.” Her strength, selflessness, and unwavering commitment are unmatched. Erica doesn't just do her job—she lives it with heart, purpose, and excellence. She is a caregiver in the truest sense, and we are proud to nominate her.

    Singh Panchwattie

    This caregiver is one of the most kind, dedicated, and compassionate professionals I have met. I know her story, her long career in the industry, and the strong commitment she shows every day to her patients. She has been with her current patient for 12 years, and before that, she cared for his mother. When the mother passed away, she promised never to leave the patient alone, and she has faithfully kept that promise, remaining by his side for many years. In addition to her compassion and dedication, she demonstrates excellent caregiving skills, strong communication, and remarkable patience, always ensuring her patients feel safe, valued, and cared for.

    Yolanda Andrillon

    Yolanda has been a caregiver at the agency for 26 years. She is the light of our adult day care, working with dementia and Alzheimer's clients. She sings to the clients, makes them laugh, and creates content moments. She treats each client and their family members with love, compassion, and warmth. She is dedicated and goes beyond the call of duty. If someone is late picking up a client, she is willing to stay. If someone needs an extra escort on our transportation bus, she volunteers. She ensures each person has an amazing day. It is more than a job for her; she has created a family setting.  

    These ten extraordinary caregivers remind us what it truly means to care from the heart. Their tireless efforts have not only enriched the lives of their clients but are also the foundation of our industry. They are the backbone of quality homecare, ensuring dignity and support for those who need it most.

    We are proud to honor these Caregiving Champions during National Homecare & Hospice Month and thank them for setting the standard of excellence. Their stories inspire us all to go the extra mile in making a difference.
